I didn’t want a birthday celebration that screamed for tonnes of pre-planning this year so I settled for an easy day with two of my dearest girlfriend’s for afternoon tea at Four Seasons, a wings night with a few that my bf planned, and a pleasant dinner with my bf at Ki, a modern Japanese restaurant. Photos from dinner with Terrance will be postponed for later this week because I don’t want a cluster of photos all in one post and I secretly want to dedicate an entire post to him for being the sweetest individual.

Being able to catch up over three pots of tea with the two girls was more than I can ever ask for. Although most of our conversation pretty much ended with us talking about which pastries or sandwiches we liked most or how classy we should attempt to be, it was nice seeing their faces. Everyone seemed to be having silent conversations all around, but us (spare us on this one, it was our first time having afternoon tea haha). I don’t exactly feel the slightest bit of difference now that I’m 20, but I guess hitting the 2’s should be quite a drastic hit.

On a separate note, I witnessed snow pouring from the sky (yes, in October). At first glance, it seemed like rain since I did see dark clouds earlier on in the day, but it did turn out to be snow. I guess winter's arriving early this year.

A couple of reasons to explain why I've been hiding away for the past week and avoiding outfit posts. School has left me bundled up in pages of assignments and midterms still and I'm seriously sick of taking indoor photos. Fortunately, my lovely housemate offered to take a few photos for me today outside in the warm, autumn weather. I look like a complete mess since these photos were quickly taken after a morning full of classes so I do apologize.

On another note, the E.L.F. order that my housemates and I put in has finally arrived. I love their make-up and brushes only because they are priced ridiculously low and the quality is pretty impressive. Anyway, that is all for today.

Insomnia Cafe

I'm completely drained from the busy, long weekend. As eventful as it was, I'm now left feeling isolated in my unscented room miles away from home, which is partially why I hate going back to Toronto sometimes. Bittersweet.

It was my first time dining around The Annex on Saturday. A few friends and I celebrated one of our girlfriend's twentieth birthday at Insomnia Cafe, which is a restaurant, bar, and lounge. I was hesitant about posting these photos since most of them are horrible in terms of quality, but what the hell. The atmosphere was a bit clustered (however, calm and cozy) with little walking space, but nonetheless, beautiful. The walls were decorated with framed photographs for sale and the ceilings were adorn with string of lights and dimmed lighting fixtures. I'm also set on getting myself a round glass vase, along with a large fake daisy. I've been inspired. The only factor that has left me feeling totally creeped out is the eyeball that they use to replace the "o" in "Insomnia". They didn't have a wide selection of items on their menu, but the food was delicious and inexpensive. I ordered the Avocado Grilled Chicken Sandwich topped with melted brie and yam fries as my side for just $10. It tasted like a sweet mouthful of Heaven on a toasted sandwich bun. Hope the birthday girl had a memorable twentieth and loved all her presents, although now she has to go through the hassle of exchanging the Tiffany & Co. ring from the girls to something of choice (her boyfriend ended up getting her the exact same ring! At least he was able to give it to her first. Phew). It was unfortunate that we were not able to go to Snakes & Lattes due to the large line-up waiting for seats at the same cafe. And this is why they need more board game cafes' in Toronto. I was really looking forward to it. Really.

I have been pretty swamped with assignments and group projects lately, and with midterms coming up ahead, you probably won't find me reporting too much in the next few days (or perhaps even weeks). I hope you all had a lovely Thanksgiving, whether it be with your friends, family, or your significant other, and are bundled up in layers of clothing ready for the cold, cold Autumn.

Didn't get the chance to post this yesterday, but here are a few selected pieces from Chloé and Lanvin's Spring 2011 RTW collection that were completely mind-blowing.

The city winks a sleepless eye

October 6, 2010

F21 long sleeve, Zara trousers and belt, Jeffrey Campbell flats, purse (gift from friend), H&M printed scarf

Lately, the brutal weather seems to be inescapable. The trickles of rain (if not pouring) and ample sunlight has been exhausting to witness. Story would be different if I were to sit at home, bundled in layers of clothing, along with a hot cup of tea in hand. I wouldn’t mind watching the rain so much then. But, the morning usually calls for me to get myself ready for the lonely 8AM walk to school in the freezing cold weather. Fall, you’re just not a good friend of mine.

At least Thanksgiving is coming ahead. I still haven’t figured out what I will be doing for the entire weekend but as far as I know, I’m going to make the best out of the next (and probably last) few warm, sunny days. Here’s an outfit I plan to wear this weekend. I managed to catch a glimpse of sunlight in the late afternoon so I decided to take a few photographs. Unfortunately, with the cold weather ahead and the fact that I’m living away from home for school, you won’t be seeing any outdoor outfit posts.

I’m pretty excited for my friend’s birthday this Saturday. I can’t begin to explain how fun it sounds already, only from reading the descriptions. We’re dining at a restaurant called Insomnia and afterwards, we will be heading to a little café called Snakes and Lattes. I’m more curious about the latter than the former (Don’t get me wrong. I love food, but this is better). It’s a small board game café on Bloor St., which serves lattes, coffee, and all those sweet treats as well as offering 1500+ board games just for a $5 entrance fee. Tempting? Anyways, look forward to photos.

Valentino Spring 2011 RTW

Valentino's spring 2011 collection is simply breathtaking. I can't take my eyes off the elegant, sheer crepe chiffon dress with layers of lightweight ruffles over top. The dress embroidered with gold foil stitching, appearing much like lace, was beyond belief.

Note: I have to mention that Chloe and Lavin's Spring 2011 RTW collections were incredible as well.

Carney

Talula cardigan, Wilfred bustier, H&M leggings, Michael Kors Carney riding boots

Sorry for the lack of thought when putting together this outfit. I honestly just grabbed whatever was laying on my bed and leggings were the easiest to slip on. Anyways, I kept my promise and here are the riding boots that I have been meaning to show you guys. Not entirely sure if it was worth $300, but I hope they last for over a year. My favourite part of the boots are the round studs and the lower buckle.

Oh wind, won't you sweep me up into the sky

Turtle Jack's

I apologize for delaying my posts a lot frequent now, but I have been pretty much drifting in and out of the library the past week, either suffocating myself in a tiny cubicle inside the quiet study room with endless pages of readings or working with my group on our assignments. I can’t guarantee it, but I will try to slip in some time for a photo of my riding boots this weekend.

Celebrated a friend’s 21st birthday at Turtle Jack’s up in Hamilton. The atmosphere was kind of odd with walls adorn with paddles, canoe and fish, but the menu was decent. I ordered an entrée, which was the sundried tomato and goat cheese chicken with veggies and sweet potato fries as my sides. The chicken breast was too dry, but the sides were tasteful. It was kind of interesting to find that they served deep fried pickles (I’m not a fan of pickles, but it looked really good) and deep fried ice cream.

My hope to attend my first Nuit Blanche is not happening, yet again. I’m looking forward to my fellow Torontonian bloggers to post hundreds of photos so I can witness the beauty through my laptop screen though!

With assignments and midterms coming up right around the corner, I’m seriously drawn away from being motivated to plan out my twentieth birthday. I have already settled on sitting in at home on that Friday, after writing my midterm, for a night snuggled under my bed sheets all while watching a romantic comedy.
